Sindri Þór Stefansson and six others have been charged with the theft of 600 computers equipped for Bitcoin mining.

Police have officially brought charges against Sindri Þór Stefánsson and several other individuals in the matter of 600 stolen computers from three data centers in December 2017 and January 2018. The computers were outfitted for bitcoin mining and worth an estimated ISK 200 million.
The 600 Bitcoin-mining computers were discovered along with eight high-powered fans in Tianjin when the local power grid reported abnormally high electricity usage.
Sindri Þór Stefánsson, who was arrested in Amsterdam after fleeing an Icelandic prison last week, has been sentenced to 19 days in custody.
