A 28-year-old Chinese citizen has been charged with involuntary manslaughter for the death of a 47-year-old tourist in Southeast Iceland on December 26, Vísir reports.
He is accused of having driven a car too fast onto the single-lane bridge over the river Hólá, not taking the road conditions into consideration, thus, causing the fatal accident.
The charge, issued by the chief of police in South Iceland, states that the road was snow-covered and that the accused did not have full control of the car which collided with the left front corner of a vehicle coming from the opposite direction on a single-lane bridge. The driver of the latter vehicle sustained serious injuries to the chest and died shortly after the collision.
A travel ban has been issued against the accused until April 22.
