Þór Þorsteinsson, a member of search and rescue association ICE-SAR, posted a video on Facebook from yesterday’s operation leading to the rescue of two ptarmigan hunters who were lost on Snæfellsnes peninsula in West Iceland.
The video shows search and rescue volunteers crossing a river under challenging circumstances. Þór wrote: “The final meters of a difficult day. I’m very proud to be part of this team which thinks in solutions but not problems and works together instead of thinking of special interests.”
Approximately 80 people from many different search and rescue squads—which all operate under ICE-SAR—participated in the operation. Þór mentioned that the first four people to reach the lost men were from three different squads.
