Sometimes, it’s best to leave the key in the car when you park it … at least if you choose a parking spot impossible to get out of in the middle of a mountain slope.
The Reykjavík Metropolitan Police are looking for the owner of a Toyota Land Cruiser, who abandoned the vehicle two days ago at an elevation of 400 m (1,300 ft) in Esja mountain, near Reykjavík, RÚV reports. The Land Cruiser got stuck after leaving deep tire tracks in the mountain up to that point.
Police have been unable to track down the owner, who complicated their work by failing to leave the key in the vehicle.
Chief Inspector Ásgeir Pétur Guðmundsson told RÚV that arrangements must be made to get the vehicle down the mountain. He said it’s impossible to tell what the driver intended.
