Search and Rescue teams were called out four times in just over 24 hours to the Southern Highlands, RÚV reports. Hikers along the Fimmvörðuháls trail requested ICE-SAR’s assistance this morning, saying they misjudged the conditions and are exhausted and reluctant to continue their journey.

Search and rescue teams received two calls from the same area just yesterday, along with a third from the Syðra-Fjallabak highland road. Travellers are encouraged to consult weather and road conditions before setting out, as well as leave their itinerary on safetravel.is and with loved ones.
