Þór Saari Submits Vote of No Confidence
MP for The Movement Þór Saari submitted a parliamentary resolution for a vote of no confidence on the Social Democrat-Left Green ruling coalition. Þór has requested to the Speaker of Parliament that the issue be taken up by parliament tomorrow, ruv.is reports.

Þór has criticized the Icelandic government due to problems passing the constitutional bill despite the draft having been widely supported in last year’s referendum.
“Democratic reform promised in the lead-up to the elections has not been carried out,” Þór argued, adding that inequality in funding of parties still existed, while direct democracy was lacking.

A petition urging the government to reconsider a proposed bill, in which the terms of the law requiring fishing companies to pay a tariff for their use of Iceland’s fishing resources are to be changed, has been signed by more than 11,000 people.

Harboring the Homegrown
The road to Höfn, a 1,690-person harbor town by the fjord Hornafjörður, is lined with reindeer. Whole herds of the wild horned animals rest peacefully on withered pastures, grace next to sheep and horses and bounce along the road. Soon, Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier and the region’s biggest attraction, comes into view.
