To celebrate Reykjavík Harbor’s 90th anniversary, ASÍ Art Museum opens an exhibition today dedicated to art relating to the harbor, its evolution and atmosphere for the last century, and its function as a port into the heart of Reykjavík.

The artwork on display was created between 1900 and present day and includes work from prominent artists like Jóhannes Kjarval, Ólafur Elíasson and Dieter Roth.

ASÍ Art Museum is open every afternoon except Mondays. Admission is free. “Living Art of the Harbor” will be on display until December 16. The exhibition in sponsored by Associated Icelandic Ports.
The exchange of power in Iceland took place yesterday when the government of Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson formally took over from that of Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir and ministers exchange keys.

One of the last tasks of Steingrímur J. Sigfússon while in office as minister of industries and innovation was to issue a regulation on Monday extending the reserve for whales in Faxaflói bay, off Reykjavík in Southwest Iceland. The regulation took affect at midnight.
