The grassroots Independent Arts Festival (Óháð listahátíð) for both up-and-coming and experience artists, which was last held in 1997, will be resurrected in Selfoss, south Iceland, this year, June 29 to July 8.

Filmmaker Jóhann Sigmarsson has been appointed the festival’s manager, Morgunblaðið reports. He asks those interested in participating to email hljomalinda@gmail.com before June 8.
As for other festivals, the annual music feast Bræðslan in Borgarfjörður eystri will take place for the eighth time this summer, July 26 to 29.
Among performing artists are rocker Mugison, veteran Valgeir Guðjónsson, Contalgen Funeral from Sauðárkrókur in northwest Iceland and the male choir Fjallabræður.
