The concert in Harpa will be his first in 2012 following his 50-concert Olympia tour, completed in December last year. Every concert on the tour sold out.

An interview with Managing Director of Mandela Days Reykjavík, Steinþór Helgi Arnsteinsson, aired on Rúv.
“The concert marks the beginning of the Nelson Mandela Days in Iceland, Nelson Mandela 2012. The concert is held in honor of Nelson Mandela and his ideals,” he told the radio station.

More concerts intended to raise awareness and support for humanitarian issues are to be held in Reykjavík this year.  Mandela Days Reykjavík 2012 are held in cooperation with the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

Bryan Ferry will play songs from various stages of his career, including his solo albums and his time with Roxy Music.
The program is in part based on the critically acclaimed Olympiatour.

Bryan will be accompanied by dozens of musicians and technicians. Selecting the right location for the concert is a matter of principal for Bryan Ferry and various locations were visited as potential locations for the show. In the last few years he has mostly played in opera houses and larger theaters, all locations suited to the performance.

Bryan Ferry has been active in music for roughly four decades. He started out in 1973 as the ringleader of band Roxy Music. Bryan started the band in 1970 with his partner Graham Simpsons. Later additions to the band included Andy Mackay and Brian Eno.
Their first album named after the band itself came out in 1972 and their second album Virginia Plain in 1974. In the decades to come more classical albums were released with hits like Jealous Guy, More than this, The Space Between and Avalon.

Bryan Ferry was, and is today, the main singer and songwriter for Roxy Music. The band has played together on and off throughout the years, that is from 1975 to 1975 and again from 1979 to 1982. In the last decade the band has gotten together to perform concerts, and several of his band members participated in the 2011 Olympia tour, Rúv reports.

Bryan Ferry’s solo career has produced 13 albums, including These Foolish Things from 1973, Let’s Stick Together from 1976, The Bride Stripped Bare from 1978, Boys and Girls from 1985, Béte Noir from 1987, Dylanesque from 2007 in which he performed Bob Dylan’s songs, and Olympia from 2010.

His hits throughout the years are numerous and include Let’s Stick Together, Slave to Love, Don’t Stop the Dance, The Right Stuff and Kiss and Tell.

His last album, Olympia contains four singles such as You Can Dance, Shameless, Reason or Rhyme and Alphaville.
