This morning residents in Reykjavík woke up to between five and 15 centimeters of snow.

Police say that streets are very slippery and buses are running late. In Reykjavík residents are not used to so much snow so early in October and most cars still have summer tires, winter tires not being obligatory for the next three weeks.
The roads out of Reykjavík are also covered with snow and police reported that at least one car drove off the road on Hellisheiði on the way to Hveragerði. The forecast is that some snow flurries may continue in the city today, but that the temperature will be between 0 and 5ºC, hence melting away most of the snow.
