
The postal art exhibition called “Saint-Lunaire – Reykjavík: Letters from Brittany” will open tomorrow, Wednesday March 28, at 5-7pm at Alliance Française, the French culture centre of Reykjavík.

The exhibition will display artfully decorated envelopes which contained letters sent by Marie Schimpf, who lives in Saint-Lunaire in the Brittany (Bretagne) region of France, to her friend in Reykajvík, Valérie Anne.

The 27th Reykjavík Arts Festival (RAF) kicks off tomorrow with a ten-minute newly commissioned sound piece by the Vessel Orchestra at 5:45 pm at Reykjavík harbor. The best spot to view the performance will be down on the quays where composer Lilja Birgisdóttir will conduct ‘flutes’ of all the ships in the harbor, as stated on the website of RAF.

Biologist Erpur Snær Hansen at the South Iceland Institute of Natural History (Náttúrustofa Suðurlands) said in an interview with mbl.is on Tuesday that the number of puffins hunted in Vestmannaeyjar (the Westman Islands) up until 2010—it has since been banned—is almost double what is considered sustainable.
