A golden plover was spotted in by a bird enthusiast Bjarni Sæmundsson by the church Útskálakirkja at Garður in Southwest Iceland yesterday evening.
The arrival of the migrating bird is considered the first certain sign of spring in Iceland.
The golden plover arrived is about two weeks earlier than usual, mbl.is reports.
Other migratory birds have also started arriving to the country with the increasingly longer days.
