Minister of Finance Oddný G. Harðardóttir, also serving as Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism for the duration of Minister Katrín Júlíusdóttir’s maternity leave, confirmed grants to 30 tourism-related projects.

The total amount of grants to be distributed is ISK 69,000,000 (406,984 EUR or 543, 478 USD).
The board received 124 applications and the total amount requested in all grant applications received reached approximately ISK 455,000,000 (2,683,732 EUR or 3,583,806 USD).
One third of all applicants received the full amount requested but others receive, grants to fund specific aspects of their operations, receiving amounts ranging from ISK 250,000 to 5,000,000, mbl.is reports.
The Board of Tourism Development is distributing grants to applicants for the first time.

The government of Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir will formally step down after a state council meeting with President of Iceland Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson at his residence Bessastaðir at 11 am today. At 3 pm, the new government of Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson will attend a state council meeting and afterwards formally take power.
