Bergþór (Beggi) Eggertson, who competes for Iceland but lives in Berlin, achieved yesterday for the fourth time the title of world champion in 250 m pace race on his horse Lótus von Aldenghoor. He raced the distance in 21.97 seconds.

Second was the Dane Ibn Katrine Andersen on Skuggi frá Hávarðarkoti, while German rider Marie Lange-Fuchs on Ómi fran Stav received the bronze.
During the award ceremony the members of Beggi’s farm close to Berlin cheered and waved.
Beggi said he has never owned a horse like Lótus. He had once joked with Magnús Skúlason that he only needed one more title to equal the former four-time pace world champion. Now he had succeeded.
