Hallgrímur Helgason’s novel, The Hitmans Guide to Housecleaning, or 10 ráð til að hætta að drepa fólk og byrja að vaska upp (which translates as 10 tips to stop killing people and start doing the dishes), reached the eight place of Amazon’s chart of most sold books, issued by Kindle as an e-book. Amazon issues the book both in Kindle- and paperback form and the book was put on the site in late January 2012.

On the first day, the book had already reached the top ten list in the Kindle-branch of Amazon, England, and for a while it even took the first place in the thriller category from Stieg Larsson, author of the Millennium trilogy. Yesterday, visir.is reported that the book had reached eighth place of sold books on Amazon in all categories.

The book was published in Iceland in 2010 and has been published in ten different languages, most recently in Korean. The movie rights to the book have also been sold to Denmark.
