Hákon Pálsson was among the 30 nominated cinematographers, actors and actresses anxiously awaiting the results in the Oran Mor, a cultural center and meeting place in the heart of Glasgow’s West End.
Hákon was the recipient of the BAFTA Best New Talent award. He is rewarded for his exceptional work behind the camera in the making of No More Shall We Part directed by the Scottish Shaun Hughes.
Very few Icelanders have been rewarded the prestigious award, the last one being Valdís Óskarsdóttir for her editing of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in 2005, Pressan.is reports.
The BAFTA awards are considered by many to be the prerequisite to a bright future in the cinematic industry.

On the way back to Reykjavík following this morning's news conference, at which the new government agreement was formally presented, the next Prime Minister of Iceland, Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson, and his assistant, Jóhannes Þór Skúlason, who was driving, were stopped for speeding.
