Contemporary comics from the Nordic countries will be featured in the exhibition Nordicomics Islands, which opens today, January 12, at 3 pm, in the main building of Reykjavík City Library on Tryggvagata 15 in the central capital.
The exhibition focuses on Nordic comic writers, including from Iceland, Greenland and the Aaland Islands, as stated in a press release.
Its themes consider the abnormalities and distances between people and regions; a visitor’s interpretation of an unfamiliar environment; and historical and emotional regions of the north in the personal viewpoint of the author.
The work of the following comic writers will be presented in Nordicomics Islands:
Mari Ahokoivu (FI), Eeva Meltio (FI), Josefin Svenske (SE), Lene Ask (NO), Søren Mosdal (DK), Hugleikur Dagsson (IS), Nuka K. Godtfredsen (GL) and Linus Strandberg (AX).
The exhibition will travel between the island cities of Reykjavík, Iceland; Nuuk, Greenland; Mariehamn, the Aaland Islands; and Tórshavn, the Faroe Islands.
