The program, consisting of 13 categories, features films from 40 countries. The program categories include New Visions (films by up-and-coming directors), Open Seas (films that have garnered prizes and generated discussion), A Different Tomorrow (films which search for answers and solutions about sustainable living), documentaries, films from Greece, Icelandic Panorama, Children’s Films, Midnight Movies and films by the three guests of honor: James Gray, Laurent Cantet and Lukas Moodysson.
The festival has grown rapidly in recent years with large screenings now taking place in Háskólabíó, Tjarnarbíó and the Nordic House, a press release from RIFF states.
