Sigurður Þórðarson (aka Siggi ‘the hacker’) was called before the Judicial Affairs and Education Committee of Alþingi, the Icelandic parliament, yesterday to explain what the FBI had questioned him about in the summer of 2011.
Siggi arrived with two bodyguards to the meeting and left through the backdoor.
MP Björgvin G. Sigurðsson, the chairman of the committee, told mbl.is, that the meeting was confidential and would not reveal any details but stated that they now know more about the FBI’s operations.
It has already been reported that the FBI were investigating a possible cyber attack on the computer system of the Icelandic government.
They were also investigating WikiLeaks and were planning to use Siggi as bait for WikiLeaks, the hacker maintains. He stated that he had refused to work for the FBI.
After the meeting with Siggi, Björgvin stressed that Minister of the Interior Ögmundur Jónasson had been right to refuse the FBI to operate in Iceland in the summer of 2011.
