Sigur Rós formally announced the release of their new album Kveikur on their website today, along with the first single off the album, ‘Brennisteinn.’ The album is set to come out on June 17, the Icelandic National Day.
Sigur Rós will appear on the talk show Late Night with Jimmy Fallon this evening along with Kevin Bacon, ruv.is reports.
The band’s last album, Valtari, was released in May last year and went straight to seventh place on the U.S. Billboard List and eighth on the British charts.
A European tour is scheduled, with the first concert to take place in Dublin on November 16.
