Almost thirty thousand people have signed an online petition asking President Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson to run for office once again. According to Rúv.is the petition formally closes today.
When it was launched, its organizers said that they hoped that if forty thousand people signed their names the president would comply.
Signing fake names and social security numbers is possible but according to its organizer, Baldur Óskarsson, tomorrow they will begin working on weeding out such cases.
The signatures will be handed to the president next week.
