The annual Winter Lights Festival, including a video art exhibition at the Nordic House and Museum Night, kicks off in Iceland’s capital today and runs through Sunday. This year’s theme is ‘amazing darkness.’
At Reykjavík Art Museum, the festival’s opening will be celebrated with the screening of award-winning documentary The City Dark tonight at 6 pm at Hafnarhús.
The film “addresses the disappearance of dark skies and reminds us how lucky we are to have the Milky Way and aurora borealis at our doorstep,” as described in a press release.
Admission is free.
Bíó Paradís cinema will be screening Nosferatu at 10 pm. Admission is also free.
