As a citizen of the United States, I’m always glad to see a story that shows other countries can be as silly as the United States. We just had our stupid Congress rush right up to the “Fiscal Cliff” before doing anything halfway reasonable. Now I see this story about how the Icelandic “state” won’t let this girl keep her name. Really? The state has to approve what your parents name you? Well, it’s no fiscal cliff, by any means, but it is silly.
Doesn’t anybody over there think this is a major intrusion into one’s personal freedoms? And what do you do when someone from another country immigrates to your country? Do they have to change their name? No, then what difference does it make what your own citizens name their children? Just saying…..
