The 27th Reykjavík Arts Festival begins on May 17.
This year’s focus is on the creative space where the arts intersect and on reinterpretations of older works.
Highlights include performances of Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring & Petrushka by the Icelandic Dance Company and Iceland Symphony Orchestra, performances by Bang on a Can All-Stars as well as the opera star Diana Damrau.
The festival runs through June 2.

A boat is on its way from Ísafjörður to pick up people who have become weather-bound in Súðavík. More than ten people have been stuck since Friday after heavy snowfall in the West Fjords, ruv.is reports.
As reported earlier, bad weather, including heavy snowfall and avalanches have left roads impassable, flight cancellations and power and hot water disruptions in parts of the West Fjords. A decision on whether flights will resume today is expected shortly.
