The annual Photographs of the Year exhibition by the Association of Icelandic Press Photographers opened at Gerðarsafn gallery in Kópavogur on Saturday.
A total of 133 photos of the roughly 1,000 which were submitted to the competition are on show.
Þórir Guðmundsson’s photographs of international relief work, a project which he carried out for the Red Cross, also opened on the weekend.
The exhibition, In the Realm of Hope (Á vettvangi vonar), features images from Bangladesh, China, the Former Soviet Union, Haiti, Malawi, North Korea, Sierra Leone, Somalia and Vietnam.
Both exhibitions on display until April 28, 2013.
