This year’s Reykjavík Dance Festival opens on Friday, August 23 with performances at Hafnarhúsið and the National Theater.
A unique attraction at this year’s event, the Black Yoga Screaming Chamber, designed by the festival’s artistic directors, Erna Ómarsdóttir and Valdimar Jóhannsson of Shalala, was launched last week.
The ten-day program combines classes, performances, lectures, parties and a host of other events. “We want you attending morning classes, chowing down on a Lunch Beat, and drenching yourself in dance shows. And when you’re not dying of over-dansuration, we’d love you to be eating choreography, finding more important things to read than the news, screaming in small dark rooms, and dancing yourself naked,” a statement from RDF states.
