Reykjavík Mayor Jón Gnarr will attend a series of neighborhood meetings held as part of the ‘Betri Hverfi’ (‘Better Districts’) project.

The aim of the organizers is to give residents the opportunity to voice their ideas for small projects, new construction and maintenance projects to better their neighborhoods.
Ideas can also be submitted to the project website. Last year, the City of Reykjavík received close to 400 ideas and more than 100 were implemented.
This year’s budget is set at ISK 300 million (USD 2.3 million, EUR 1.75 million). Residents submit ideas and then vote on them online from March 14-19.
At the meetings, the mayor will also review last year’s projects and people can use the opportunity to sit down and discuss the ideas presented at the meeting.
The first meeting was held at Laugalækjarskóli in the suburb of Laugardalur at 5 pm today.
On Wednesday, the mayor will meet the residents of Árbær at 5 pm in Árbæjarskóli, and on Thursday, those in Vesturbær at 5 pm in Hagaskóli.
