Ice Cracks in Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull

Some activity was noticed in Eyjafjallajökull glacier yesterday, which was registered by the Icelandic Meteorological Office’s indicators.

However, it wasn’t a case of seismic activity—let alone a sign of an upcoming volcanic eruption—but rather cracking in the ice, which measured up to three points on the Richter scale, Fréttabladid reports.

The weather was very cold in the Eyjafjallajökull area yesterday, which caused the glacier to crack in such a violent manner. A storm is currently raging below the Eyjafjöll mountain range, as in most other parts of the country.
