The annual heavy metal music festival Eistnaflug is coming up. As always it will be held in the local venue Egilsbúd in Neskaupstadur, east Iceland, this year on July 7-9. It will feature a “fine ensemble” of international and Icelandic rock bands.

The lineup includes homegrown stars like Skálmöld, Agent Fresco, Mammút, Sólstafir, Benny Crespo's Gang, Celestine and the veterans Dr. Spock and Ham, who will be joined by Triptykon from Switzerland, Secrets of the Moon from Germany, Holland's Monolith Death Cult and Hamferd from the Faroe Islands.
Eistnaflug started out as a small one-day metal festival but now, seven years later, has grown into a three-day festival with metal, hardcore, punk, rock and indie bands sharing a stage.
Apart from concerts there will also be workshops and off-venue activities. Neskaupstadur has about 1,400 inhabitants but on the second weekend of July that number doubles. The venue has a capacity of 1,000 people.
There are two campsites: one for people who like to party all night long and another quieter one. The festival is “a great opportunity to enjoy heavy music surrounded by a beautiful landscape,” as described on icelandmusic.is.
