A call was made to the capital area fire department shortly after 9 am yesterday morning when a fire ignited on a bus. Just over ten passengers were on board at the time but no one was harmed.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Passenger boarding a bus in Reykjavík. The driver had sensed that something was wrong with the bus. He pulled over and stalled the engine. Shortly after, flames started rising from the back of the bus.
A woman who was seated towards the back of the bus said that she could smell smoke. When the passengers realised that the vehicle was on fire, they all got themselves off the bus. The woman said that shortly after that, there had been an explosion. The fire department was able to put the fire out fairly easily but the bus is severely damaged.
