The Swedish Academy announced yesterday morning that Einar Már Guðmundsson will receive the Nordic Literary Award this year for his contribution to literature. The Nordic Literary Awards of the Swedish Academy have been granted every year since 1986. They are considered to be one of the greatest honors that a Nordic writer can receive and is often nick named the Nordic Nobel or “the Small Nobel”.
Einar Már Guðmundsson is the third Icelander to receive this award. Thor Vilhjálmsson received the award in 1992, and Guðbergur Bergsson in 2004, mbl.is reports.
