A crewmember on-board an Icelandic trawler, Sigurbjörg ÓF, fishing off the shores of Ísafjörður was fatally injured in an accident that occurred yesterday morning. The crew was busy cleaning the ship off Straumnes when the injured man got jammed in equipment on-board the ship, a local newspaper Bæjarins besta, reported yesterday.

The Coast Guard flew towards the ship as it sailed to shore and a physician to assist the injured man on-board the trawler was dropped to the deck. Shortly after he declared time of death on the journey to Ísafjörður harbor, where a helicopter waited, mbl.is reports.
The trawler arrived in Ísafjörður yesterday morning where crewmembers were interviewed and the local pastor came on-board to counsel the crew. The Icelandic Marine Accident Investigation Board (IMAIB) will continue the investigation when the police have completed their part.
