The process of removing the implants from the breasts of Icelandic women has begun and it seems that the implants are in a worse condition than expected, according to Saga Ýrr Jónsdóttir, attorney for the women who are filing charges. Saga says that it is just being revealed now that the situation is much worse than most people expected.

Mbl.is published a photo of the PIP implants that were removed from one of Saga’s clients at Landspítalinn - The National University Hospital of Iceland. Both of the implants had ruptured but the one from the right breast was in a much worse condition than the one in the left. Silicon had leaked to a large area around the right breast, and formation of pus was discovered. “This is not the worst scenario I have witnessed, but this is a very bad case,” Saga stated.
The woman in question had the implants inserted by plastic surgeon Jens Kjartansson ten years ago. She had started feeling pain and it is possible that the implants have been ruptured for quite some time. Around 25 women have confirmed with Saga that they take the lawsuit all the way if Jens and the distributor decline to pay damages, Morgunblaðið reports.
