Sigur Rós to Release New Album in May

This is the band’s sixth studio album; its previous albums and the band’s front man Jónsi’s solo project have enjoyed widespread popularity and critical acclaim.

According to Morgunblaðið, Sigur Rós are booked to play at a number of larger music festivals next summer, including the Montreal Osheaga Festival.

This week, another Icelandic band, Prinspóló, released a new song called “Landspítalinn”, after the Icelandic national hospital, which is considered an ode to this beginning and end station to the majority of Icelanders’ lives.

A press release adds that Prinspóló is setting sail for Denmark in the beginning of May and will perform in Copenhagen (May 3) and Aarhus (May 4 and 5).
