The third annual Blizzard (Éljagangur) winter and outdoor recreation festival will be held in Akureyri, northeast Iceland, February 14-17. The purpose is to present the variety of winter activities to locals and tourists.

Travel agents and tour operators will offer a range of activities and events, including a sleigh race, snowboard show, ice-cross competition, ski-doo and snowmobile tours, ice fishing, mountain hiking and skiing courses.
For the first time, helicopter sightseeing tours and heli-skiing will be on offer.
Families are encouraged to participate in the flashlight parade in the town’s ski resort in Hlíðarfjall on Thursday evening where the most original lighting will be awarded.
The symbol of the festival is Frosti, the gigantic snowman on Ráðhústorg square in the heart of town.
