There are no observable signs that an eruption of Hekla volcano is imminent and no updates have been issued. The civil protection department will tomorrow reevaluate the level of uncertainty declared today, mbl.is reports.
As reported earlier today, a level of uncertainty was declared due to unusual seismic activity in the volcano.
The National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police and chief of police in Hvolsvöllur warn people against traveling to Hekla while the level of uncertainty is active.
Iceland Review editor and photographer Páll Stefánsson is currently in South Iceland and took the above photographs of Hekla a short time ago.
A live web cam of Hekla can be viewed here.
