Around 60 to 70 residents of the East Iceland town of Seyðisfjörður walked over the Fjarðarheiði mountain pass yesterday to protest the condition of the only road link out of the town.

The road has been impassable on numerous occasions this winter. Locals are pushing for the construction of a tunnel under Fjarðarheiði, ruv.is reports.
The protest is held four times a year.
The construction of a tunnel between Eskifjörður and Neskaupstaður, also in the East Fjords, recently got underway.
