Icelanders and foreigners, representing 80 different countries, joined hands today to celebrate the fifth annual Reykjavík Intercultural Day.Photos: Zoë Robert/Iceland Review.
The day began with a parade from Hallgrímskirkja through downtown Reykjavík, ending at City Hall. The festival continues until 10 pm at Hafnarhús with music from the Bangoura Band.
Josephine Wanjiru Wawira from Kenya told ruv.is that the idea is for both Icelanders and foreigners to come together and be proud of where they are from.
Reykjavík’s multicultural population is made up of individuals from 130 countries.
