A man was saved from a burning fishing boat off Arnarstapi on Snæfellsness peninsula, West Iceland, around midday yesterday.

Þorleifur Reynisson, who was fishing 300 meters from the boat when he heard the distress call, came to the man’s rescue. “This is a wonderful feeling. It was a good day at work,” he told visir.is of having saved the man’s life.
The conditions at sea were difficult yesterday. The Coast Guard transported the man to the hospital to be treated for possible smoke inhalation.
