Avalanche in Iceland’s East Fjords

Avalanche in Iceland’s East Fjords

Several avalanches fell in the fjords Seyðisfjörður and Norðfjörður in East Iceland yesterday. The largest, which fell in Seyðisfjörður, measured 2.5. None of the avalanches fell in inhabited areas or caused any damage.

According to the Icelandic Met Office, there is still considerable avalanche risk in the East Fjords, as well as on Tröllaskagi peninsula in North Iceland and the northern West Fjords, visir.is reports.

However, the layers of snow are now strengthening, which reduces the risk of further avalanches.
