Heavy Metal Rock Festival in East Iceland in July

Are you ready to rock? Well, the Eistnaflug festival is coming up, so you'd better be! Taking place in a remote town on the Eastern coast of Iceland, it is remote enough "to escape all the trouble of the real world." We like the sound of that. The annual festival takes place in Neskaupstadur from July 10 to 13. The peaceful fishing town turns into the heavy metal capital of Iceland for four days.

Plus, you'll have the "party-inducing 24-hour July daylight", so you can rock without fear of tripping over or treading in something unspeakable. Always a bonus. By the way, Eistnaflug translates as 'testicles in flight'. Hooray! What a mental image.

So who is on the line-up, Eistnaflug organizers? Only "the two biggest bands in the country right now!"

"Sólstafir and Skálmöld will once again leave their mark on Eistnaflug, alongside other established Icelandic bands such as doomy stoners Plastic Gods, hard rockers Dimma and the hard-hitting psychedelic tones of Brain Police. Young upstarts making serious waves like death metallers Angist, fresh from an appearance at London’s Desertfest, unhinged hardcore sensations Muck, local 2013 Wacken Metal Battle winners Ophidian I and their recognizable brand of raw yet technical death metal, deliriously creative and progressive act Kontinuum (who are a must-listen especially for any Sólstafir fans out there) and promising stoner rockers The Vintage Caravan, among many others, will also surely amaze and impress."

We also note with glee that dubby reggae groovers Ojba Rasta have been added to the bill and many more besides! Don't just take our word for it, look at the website and stay up to date. You can also 'like' the Facebook page too.

So if heavy metal and 24 hours of light are your thing tickets are available from Midi.is and are priced at 9900 ISK.
