An active Russian bomb was found on the beach of Grímsey island, off North Iceland, on Saturday evening. The bomb was detonated by two experts from the Icelandic Coast Guard yesterday.

The explosives experts were flown to the island by one of the Coast Guard’s helicopters, mbl.is reports.
“There was a loud explosion and a shock wave formed on the ocean,” said Árni Snær Brynjólfsson, who found the bomb with his friend Aron Ólason.
