According to Guðjón Arngrímsson, the group’s spokesman, the premise had always been that the project would be executed on in close collaboration and concordance with the Church of Iceland and the Skálholt Church Board.

“The consistory, presided by the bishop of Iceland, has led the collaboration but now it has become clear that it is causing friction and factionalism within the church’s institutions,” Guðjón explained to

“Therefore we have informed the consistory that we do not believe it advisable to continue the collaboration.”
