Icelandic Teens Sentenced to Seven Years for Smuggling

court_gavel_familycourtservicesTwo Icelandic teens aged 19-years-old were sentenced to seven and seven and a half years in prison for cocaine smuggling in the Czech Republic last week, visir.is reports. The girls had been in detention in the country for one year.

The pair have reportedly been placed in different prisons in the Czech capital. One of the mothers of the girls told visir.is that her daughter had made a mistake but that she should be allowed to serve out her sentence in Iceland.

They were arrested on arrival at the international airport in Prague in November 2012 with three kilograms of cocaine hidden in their luggage. The girls had traveled from Brazil and Munich before arriving in the Czech Republic.
