Iceland Travel travel agency is offering self-drive tours of the filming locations of Ben Stiller’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which premiered in the U.S. and U.K. on Christmas Day and Boxing Day respectively. The film has been described as a priceless promotion for Iceland.
The six-day tour covers the west and south of the country, all the way to Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon. The tour company also offers Game of Thrones tours. Rósa Stefánsdóttir, head of marketing at Iceland Travel, told ruv.is that one of the positive impacts of the tours is that they encourage tourists to visit other parts of Iceland, helping to spread out numbers.
The tours were covered in an article by the Guardian earlier this week.
