Iceland is known for having one of the highest live expectancies in the world. As of the end of 2013, there were 38 Icelanders who were 100 years old or older, thereof 31 women and seven men, according to Langlífi, a Facebook site about longevity.

At 107 years old, Guðríður Guðbrandsdóttir in Reykjavík and is reportedly the oldest living Icelander. Guðrún Jónsdóttir in Hafnarfjörður, also 107 years old but born later in the year, is the second oldest Icelander. Georg Ólafsson in Stykkishólmur is the oldest living man in Iceland at 104 years old, mbl.is reports.
