Seven Icelandic films will compete for nominations for the 2014 Eddas, the Icelandic Film and Television Awards. This is the same number of films as last year however never have more film and television projects been submitted than this year, a total of 108 projects. Last year there were a total of 102.
From the award ceremony in 2013. Photo from Facebook. There are also a record number of TV productions nominated, 76 as opposed to last year’s 64. These include six television plays, 21 news or interview programs, 21 entertainment show and 28 culture and lifestyle programs.
Four committees now face the task of choosing finalists in the Eddas 23 categories. In the categories where more than ten works were submitted, five will be nominated, in other cases three.
The nominations will be announced on January 30 and the winners will be announced live on Stöð 2 on February 22.
Last year’s big winner was Baltasar Kormákur’s Djúpið (The Deep), which took home 11 awards.
