The total catch by Icelandic vessels in December 2013 was 50,421 tonnes compared to 42,814 tonnes in December 2012. At constant prices, the volume of the catch increased by 13.1 in December 2013 compared with the same month in 2012, according to the latest numbers from Statistics Iceland.

Cod made up 19,000 tonnes, haddock 3,300 tonnes, redfish 5,500 tonnes and saithe 3,000 tonnes. The pelagic catch was 15,400 tonnes, mostly herring.
