Reykjavík’s planning committee has decided to close off large areas of central Reykjavík to buses longer than 8 meters (26 feet), visir.is reports.

“The narrow streets of the city center are not suitable for big buses,” the committee said in its proposal.
Private bus companies have for years run a pick-up service to almost all hotels in the downtown area but the planning committee argues that visitors should use public transport instead.
“With the increase in tourists, it is important to use public transport to move around the city.”
