The Ministry of the Interior has replied to the letter it received from the Special Prosecutor requesting documents regarding a leaked memo about asylum seekers in Iceland.

The case involves the leak of what later turned out to be false and damaging allegations against two asylum seekers to the media, ruv.is reports.
According to the ministry, their reply cannot be published due to confidential personal information contained therein but the ministry has stated that it will hand over any relevant documents. The Special Prosecutor is now reviewing the matter in order to make a decision whether it should be investigated by the police.
The leak concerned two Nigerian asylum seekers.
Lawyers of the asylum seekers filed charges with the police against the ministry.
